The advantage to eBay is the area of coverage. It goes worldwide but it can be spendy. Craigslist is free and can work well. AutoTrader is a little pricey for what you get (IMHO). As far as using the classified ads, they are OK but you don't usually get to post a picture and if you do, it is too small. . I don't know anything about sellmyride, but if it's anything like Carsoup, it will be a while before it is cost effective to list there.

Have you tried www.craigslist.org? The ad is free. Do you have a sign in the window of the car for sale?

If it is a classic car, consider Ebay or Autotrader. There are a lot of people out there who are looking for restoration projects.

If it is a car in the $1000-5000 range, put a sign on the windshield and put it in the yard, classifieds locally, craigslist. If its a new model, lower mileage, nicer car, Autotrader, ebay, etc. Only do one or two at a time, they don't take long to sell if you have it priced right. If it is rare or in extremely good condition, or low mileage, use lots of good photos and be absolutely honest.

And don't put..."or best offer!" You will lose money right off the bat. You can always negotiate, but that is a dead giveaway that you will accept less.

my humble opinion is, if your car is high in demand, use an auction on the site that has the most adds of a car like yours. If you have some exotic car, use classified add.

Used a local paper to move BF's truck, it worked out very well. Cost about 25 dollars to place the ad.

Classifieds. I don't like the auction system. Of course, I live in a small area. Classifieds are easier here.

Try ebay first, it is the cheapest and if it doesn't sell, then you would at least have an idea of how much people are willing to pay. Hope this helps.
